Lady Rose

-City & country: Mercerville, USA
-Age: 51
-Weight before diet: 293.5 lbs.
-Weight now: 208 lbs.
-Target weight: 140ish (flexible, I focus more on health not numbers on a scale)

Ready-made commercial diets didn't work for Lady Rose, so she devised one that works for her: responsible eating and physical activity. This isn't to say she hasn't faced hurdles. But her commitment to better health helps her to overcome them. Focusing not on numbers but on becoming healthier is what she advises others to do.

-What finally made you decide to start with a weight loss program?
A couple of things - first, my daughter (she is 11) because I want to be here for a long time for her and I wanted to be able to enjoy doing things with her. Second, I had to start seeing a cardiologist and had my first cardiac catheterization to check for possible blockages - I definitely did NOT want to be having any more of those, and facing a serious health issue is a strong motivator to stop ignoring your health.

-What type of weight loss program are you following?
One that I created myself - it's not a diet per ser, it's a philosophy Just DO-IT! (get healthy, eat responsibly, and move!)

-Why did you choose this weight loss program?
All other diets I had tried (and I tried almost all of them), I either gained weight, didn't lose, or lost some and then gained it back plus more.

-How long have you been on your weight loss program?
Since May 1, 2006

-What kinds of physical activities do you like doing to help you lose weight and stay fit?
Stationary bike, Fluidity workout, and walking

-What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome or are still overcoming?
I still need to push myself to exercise. I need to get over my addiction to diet sodas and drink more water or herbal tea.

-How do you keep yourself motivated?
I work at my new attitude every day - (F.A.T. attitude - living my life being fabulous, awesome, and tenacious!)

-Do you have any weight loss tips for our readers?
Don't be a fool, eat for fuel! I also strongly urge everyone to stop "fat hate" and promote size acceptance - most of us were not made to be size 0's. Focus on health and finding a size that is right for you; build self-esteem for yourself and others.

-Do you think it will be easy to fall back into your old lifestyle pattern? How do you prevent this from happening?
Temptations and the urge to be lazy are always a battle and some days can be difficult, but overall once you make the commitment to health it gets easier; with a change in attitude it really helps to keep going and stay on track for life. I have made a total lifestyle change - not a diet. I am working on improving all areas of my life (not just what I eat), so the triggers and emotional causes for overeating won't be as present in my everyday life.
